In a few days, an entire decade will have come and gone. Though so much has transpired, it seems as if it was just yesterday we were in a panic about Y2K. I think what made this decade so short for me was the best moments of it happened within the tail end of it. I felt as if I started living my life in 2006, and started really enjoying it in the beginning of 2009, which is when I started writing this blog. If you read the first few posts, you will understand why.
I continue to realize more and more about what true happiness is about and what it isn’t. Every day that I wake up to Jade, I am instantly happy. I remember waking up and not wanting to be in the life I was living - now I am living the life I’ve always dreamed about. I look forward to “work” if that’s what I can even call it cause it’s just doing what I absolutely love to do. I feel reborn. I feel I am actually savoring life. I am noticeably more thankful and appreciative of things nowadays. There’s a quote I try to remind myself of as often as I can - “A great life isn’t about great huge things…it’s about small things that make a big difference.”
So here we are at the doorway to a brand new decade - another milestone in our lives, and I am ready to fully throw myself at it. I aim to make the next ten years as great as the last few years were.
Having grown up with no real recollection of my father, I don’t really spend a whole lot of time thinking about him. I also never felt like i needed a father — my Mom was such a wonderful presence in my life, and my grandfather, my lolo, was definitely someone I looked up to as a father figure. Only when I am reminded of Vancouver, for some reason, do I think about my dad’s side of the family. My best and oldest friend Mel just recently came down for a visit, and he had asked if I kept in touch at all with them. This prompted me to send a “hey how are you” type email to my Aunt Joanne. Anyone who has met my dad has always commented on how much we look alike. So I asked my aunt to email me some old pictures of my dad.

Jade and I decided to check out South Coast Plaza today to see just how crazy busy the mall would be - while there was a ton of people, it was definitely not as cr owded as past years have been. Yes, the excuse of the decade is quite apt - “It’s the economy.”
We did, however, spot a ridiculous line of mostly men at Tiffany & Co. And it looked like these men had some serious making up to do LOL

Hands down THE best fried chicken I’ve ever had. It’s Korean fried chicken and they have two flavors - the standard garlic & soy sauce marinated kind, and the “holy shit my mouth is burning and I can no longer feel or taste anything” kind. Jade and I have added this to our list of fooddictions. Here’s their website - I hope you find one near you. KyoChon Chicken
Behold the shrimp burrito (well, half of one anyway) from Baja Fish Tacos! I swear by their rice (it’s ridiculous) and their pico de gallo (made from scratch and always fresh).
